PuzzlesThe numbers 4166 and 1899 in Big Walk are coordinates, not a keypad code. Read them as 41.66 and 18.99, then use the Map Room’s map and compass or a portable GPS to reach the marked area. The small button is hidden beside a rock. One player must hold that button while another returns to the puzzle building and takes the red reward from its opened container.
This solution is documented by PC Gamer and demonstrated in separate community videos. The exact route and nearby scenery are therefore media and player evidence rather than an official written puzzle rule. Last checked: August 10, 2026.
What 4166 and 1899 mean
Treat each four-digit number as a coordinate with an implied decimal point: 4166 becomes 41.66, and 1899 becomes 18.99. The numbers do not unlock the glass container by themselves, and there is no verified keypad where you enter them. They describe a position elsewhere on the island.
The Map Room gives the group a large floor map plus a portable map and compass. Use the numbered axes shown in the current game rather than guessing which way the digits should run. The first two digits place you in the broad map area, while the last two narrow the search within that area. In practical terms, 66 moves the target well across one grid section and 99 places it close to the far edge of the other.
If your group has only reached the number sign near the opening region, leave the puzzle for later. The map information needed to interpret it becomes available after further island progress. This is intentional progression, not proof that the sign or container is broken.
Unlock the Map Room first
The most readable route uses the Map Room. Complete the opening beach progression, lower the drawbridge, and continue to the Red Tower. Current media and community walkthroughs show five red puzzle rewards being placed at the Red Tower before its key is released. Follow the key-cutting route, then use the finished key to open the Map Room near the starting hub.
The Big Walk walkthrough explains this progression without turning every later discovery into a spoiler. If your group is still collecting the four opening rewards, use the beach puzzle solutions first and return to the coordinate puzzle after the Map Room is open.
The Maybe Sarisa community video linked in the source panel demonstrates the Red Tower and Map Room route in a four-player session. It is useful visual evidence, but it is still a player walkthrough. Follow the number of controls and slots visible in your own world if the selected group setup or a later patch changes the surrounding interactions.
Solve the 4166 and 1899 coordinates
Open the large Map Room map or hold the portable map where the group can read both numbered scales. Find the broad crossing for 41 and 18, then use the remaining digits to refine the position toward 41.66 and 18.99. PC Gamer places the resulting search area southeast of the starting hub.
Use this order so the group does not wander across the whole island:
- Keep one player at the map and one ready to travel.
- Identify the map section containing
41and18. - Move roughly two-thirds through the
41section to account for66. - Move almost to the far edge of the
18section to account for99. - Travel to that area and inspect the rocks instead of searching for a large machine.
- Find the small camouflaged button beside a rock.
- Hold the button while another player collects the reward at the original puzzle building.
The button and reward are separated, so the player who finds the location should not immediately leave it. Use walkie-talkies or another in-game communication method to confirm when the container is open and when the reward has been collected. If the group loses contact, agree in advance that the finder will keep holding the button for a fixed short count.
Do not treat another guide’s screenshot as a replacement for the coordinates. A crop can hide useful landmarks, and a patch may alter nearby scenery. The coordinate reading is the reusable part of the solution.
Use the GPS as an alternative
A portable GPS can lead the travelling player toward the same target without leaving somebody in the Map Room. Community walkthroughs show the GPS displaying the player’s current coordinates, which lets a second player compare the live reading with 41.66 and 18.99 while the carrier moves.
Put the GPS where the group can read it clearly. Change one direction at a time and watch which number moves closer to the target. If the first value improves while the second gets worse, correct one axis before continuing. This is slower than reading a marked map square but more precise near the final rock.
The GPS route can be found later than the map route, so it is an alternative rather than a required first step. PC Gamer reports that the device is near the Green Tower area. If your group already has the Map Room open, using the map first is usually the shorter path.
What the community videos confirm
Two separate YouTube videos are linked as community sources: MonkeyKingHero’s How to solve 4166, 1899 Big Walk Puzzle Solution and SolveBase’s How To Solve Puzzle 4166, 1899 in Big Walk. Both are player-created visual guides focused on the same coordinate puzzle and button location.

Community video · SolveBaseHow To Solve Puzzle 4166, 1899 in Big WalkWatch the original on YouTube ↗These videos are labeled as community evidence because House House and Panic did not publish the route as an official written solution. The preview cards use YouTube-hosted thumbnails and open the original creator uploads; this site does not re-upload their footage or copy their wording. Menu labels, scenery, and interaction timing may also change after a patch.
The Reddit guide index in the source panel is broader. It documents current player interest in Map Room access, map locations, and puzzle coordinates, but it is not treated as an official puzzle specification. Use it as community context rather than proof that every world or future build will look identical.
If the hidden button does not work
First confirm that the travelling player has found the small button for this puzzle rather than another nearby control. Hold it long enough for the second player to check the original glass container. A brief press may end before the collector reaches the reward.
If the container remains closed, keep the finder in place and ask the collector to verify the correct puzzle building. The long distance between the two positions makes it easy for a group to return to a similar-looking structure. Use one named player at each end and describe the sign, container, and surrounding color before resetting anything.
Restart only the current attempt before restarting the whole world. If the interaction still fails, record the host, selected world setup, platforms, and the first two game-version numbers. A current-build change may require updated evidence, but deleting the save or changing system files is not a reasonable first response to a puzzle interaction.
Big Walk number puzzle FAQ
Are 4166 and 1899 a code?
They are coordinates. Interpret them as 41.66 and 18.99 and use the Map Room map or GPS to find the target area.
Can the puzzle be solved before opening the Map Room?
The sign can be found earlier, but the Map Room provides the intended readable map. A GPS can also guide the group once that device has been found. Without either tool, the numbers do not give a useful island position.
Where is the button?
Current media and community guides place it beside a rock southeast of the starting hub, near the 41.66, 18.99 coordinate position. Search for a small camouflaged control rather than a large puzzle machine.
Does one player need to stay at the button?
Yes. One player holds the remote button while another returns to the original number-puzzle building and collects the red reward. Plan communication before splitting up.
Is the solution official?
The coordinate interpretation and route come from documented media coverage and player videos, not an official House House puzzle solution. The sources are listed and labeled so readers can distinguish media reporting from community demonstrations.
